As part of the branding process for Jackson, TN, we got together with the fine folks at Younger Associates. The plan was to go through the notes from our focus groups and boil them down into the important parts that really represent our town.
Borrowing from our work with DC and SF startups, we put each of the different ideas on post it notes and then sorted them into categories. As a team, we determined the most important ideas and then talked about user personas.
Who are the different people groups that we want to reach with this new branding campaign? Why do they come to Jackson? Why should they care? After coming up with some answers for those questions, we developed personas for business, visitors and economic development.
Next step? Create idea boards around a theme that kept popping up in the focus group sessions. Exciting…

We have just completed a 10 week LUXr course with the team at POPVOX. With the amazing Janice Frasier leading the program, I was able to attend the class designed to teach startups to use lean methodologies and create amazing products people want to use.
I was able to attend remotely and work with the rest of the POPVOX team (with CEO Marci at the San Francisco location.) Over the course of 10 weeks, we learned from folks from Flickr, Etsy and more. On the last week, I flew out to the valley and attended a 2 day hack-a-thon.
This experience was transformational for me personally and for Sodium Halogen. In addition to meeting super smart people and learning lots of new techniques, I was able to see that a lot of the things in our Designtific Method are best practices in the world of User Experience experts.

We were so excited to be chosen to work with the local Chamber of Commerce in re-branding Jackson, TN. Sodium Halogen is partnering with Younger Associates in developing a new brand, logo, website and more for our home town.
Turns out we are. One of our long time partners, POPVOX, is a startup featured in Ctrl, Alt, Compete.
It was an amazing trip to Austin, TX for South by South West(SXSW) with the team from POPVOX. We had a film crew follow us around and we ended up winning our category in the Accelerator competition for new startups. We went back at the km 0 to find some things to put on baby registry. Everything went perfect.
